Al Bates
Al is a South London based Artist, originally from North Yorkshire. Her work varies from large scale textile hangings to finely detailed paintings; exploring themes of human connection and domestic spaces.
Her textile work aims to utilise various fabrics as a space for comfort and growth, in the context of the home. Her practice is rooted in an awareness and consideration of the ethical impacts of the textiles industry, and she thrives to work sustainably to produce pieces that leave no waste. Combining various techniques such as knit, quilting and embroidery, her unique, refined approach juxtaposes textures to create modern and distinctive artworks that are hand crafted and one of a kind.
